Red Deer

Species: Cervus elaphus
Common Name: Red Deer
Natural habitat: Originally forests of Britain, now all over Europe
Natural foods: Grasses, dwarf shrubs, young trees
Life expectancy: 25 years
Other comments: The angle between the first diversion of the deers antlers from its head and the main beam is always more than 90 degrees. This is important in telling the difference between the red deer and its relative the Sika.
