Natural habitat:  High mountain foothills in Altiplano Range, at 3,500 to 5,000 meters above sea level
Natural foods: Mostly grass and leaves
Life expectancy: 20 years
Other comments: Alpaca eat about 2% of their bodyweight in food per day. They are very similar to llama, but are much smaller and not suitable as pack animals. A full-grown alpaca stands 1.2-1.5 meters tall and weighs 48-84kg.
